Ten Premier League players suspended

National StadiumMelita’s Matthew Borg was suspended for two matches while another nine players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches from the BOV Premier League.

Birkirkara were hit worse as they had Alejandro Mendoza Corujo, Paul Fenech, Rowen Muscat and Rodrigo Frank Pereira were all banned for one match. The other players to be suspended for one match were Karl Vella Petroni and Manuel Sierra Camacho (Melita), Adrian Borg (Hamrun), Rodolfo dos Santos Soares (Hibs) and Michael Mifsud (Valletta). Melita coach Patxi Salinas was also suspended for one match.

Mendoza Corujo, Fenech, Muscat and Pereira are ruled out of the Stripes’ next game against Mosta. Rodolfo Soares missed the next match against Sliema while Michael Mifsud is ruled out of the clash with Tarxien.

Melita could not count on for the Relegation Pool clashes with Balzan and Rabat. Vella Petroni and Sierra Camacho are also ruled out of the Balzan game. Hamrun’s Adrian Borg misses the Qormi game.

In Division 1, Mark Anthony Psaila (Mqabba), Cleavon Frendo and Matthew Borg (Pietà), Roderick Briffa (San Gwann), Luke Cesareo (St. Andrews) and Charlo Magro (Zejtun) were banned for one match while Dingli Swallows team-manager Jason Cachia was suspended for two matches.

Dean Agius (Kirkop) was banned for two matches while Keith Darmanin and Neville Zerafa (Fgura), Keith Fedele and Ansil Briffa (Gharghur), Matthew Vella and David Cauchi (Mellieha), Richard Attard (Mdina), Emanuel Sevasta (St. George’s) and Alan Tabone (Zebbug) were handed a one-match ban.

Eric Sciberras (Swieqi) was suspended for three matches while Matthew Cassar (Kalkara), Lee Cumbo (Marsa), Robert Southward (Mdina), Jason Galea (Santa Lucia) and Elton Catania (Swieqi) and Clayton Xuereb (Xghajra) were banned for one match. Swieqi coach Roberto Debrincat and Attard official Rene Ciantar were both suspended for two matches.
