St. Venera Lightnings defeated Mellieha 2-1 on Afriday as the BOV Second Division League comes to an end on Sunday with the last six matches.

With Zebbug Rangers crowned champions, Msida St. Joseph promoted, Mgarr United and St. Venera Lightnings relegated to Division 3, there are still two issues to be decided on Sunday – the remaining two teams to be promoted to Division 1.

Zurrieq need just a point from the game against Siggiewi to secure promotion while St George’s have to beat Gharghur. The only chance for San Gwann is to beat Msida an hope that St. George’s lose.

In case of a San Gwann win and a St. George’s draw, a decider between the two would be necessary. Same applies in case of a San Gwann win and a Zurrieq defeat.

Zebbug lead the way with 59 points, followed by Msida on 49, Zurrieq 47, St. George’s 46, San Gwann 44, Fgura 41, Pembroke 37, Siggiewi 29, Mellieha 28, Kirkop 24, St. Patrick 23, Gharghur 22, Mgarr and St. Venera 17.
