The BOV Premier League comes to an end this weekend with the last six matches to be played between Thursday and Sunday.

Thursday’s clash at the Victor Tedesco Stadium is Balzan vs Rabat Ajax.

After winning promotion at the end of last season, the Magpies reached their objective by securing Premier League status following a 4-1 win over Melita and Hamrun’s 1-3 defeat to Floriana.

Rabat failed to win any of the first twenty-one league matches but then won when it mattered most, collecting thirteen points in the Relegation Pool to climb from the bottom of the table to third from bottom.

For Balzan, this was a disappointing season after failing to make it to the Championship Pool. Last month the coach who had led the team from Division 2 to the Premier League, Ivan Zammit, was replaced by the nursery’s technical director Riccardo Tumiatti, assisted by Silvan Ciscaldi.

Balzan should be in full strength but Rabat lack the suspended Clive Brincat and Manuel Moral Fuster.
