Hamrun Spartans Nursery back from Brescia trials

hamrun-spartans-nurseryHamrun Spartans Nursery players Kurt Attard, Kieran Bugeja, Luca Bugeja, Jeremy Busuttil and Jurgen Grech have just returned from a two-day trial at Rome’s Centro Sportivo Divino Amore under the watchful eyes of Brescia Calcio coaches. These trials were possible thanks to an agreement signed between Brescia Calcio and the Hamrun Nursery earlier this year.

The boys played some trial matches together with other Italian players who were also on trial. The Italian coaches had positive comments on the Hamrun players. The players were chosen after trial sessions for all the Hamrun Nursery players at the Victor Tedesco Stadium held by Brescia Calcio coaches way back in February of this year.

Further monitoring of these and other players is expected during the Blu Camp which will be held during July. The Blu Camp is a two-week event open to everyone and will include training sessions prepared by Brescia coaches Massimo de Paoli, Marco Cristi and Matteo Camoni. Massimo de Paoli is the coach who discovered and trained Andrea Pirlo in his youth days. A facebook event ‘Blu Camp Malta’ has been created to provide further information about the Blu Camp.

Meanwhile, Hamrun Nursery players Steve Farrugia and Nathan Vella were also involved in trial sessions at Sunderland AFC whereas Hamrun Youth goalkeeper Jean Claude Debattista had a one-week trial at Swindon Town FC. All three players had the opportunity to train under the watchful eyes of professional staff and officials at both clubs.

The Hamrun Nursery is also reaping benefits from its foreign contacts as a number of Hamrun teams also had the opportunity to play against foreign opposition. During the Tony Bajada Memorial, the Under 14s played against Irish side Athlone ADSL. As part of the same commemorations, friendlies were organised the following week at the Victor Tedesco Stadium against English clubs Ascot FC and RedhouseFarm JFC and involving the Under 17, Under 14, Under 13 and Under 12 teams.
