Women's national team pay visit to Prime Minister

women-nt-visit-prime-minister2013After securing a place in the qualifying round of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the women’s national team, led by coach Pierre Brincat, paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat.

The officials, coaches and players spoke with the Prime Minister about the team’s achievement despite the fact that Malta has been competing at international level only just over a decade ago.

Dr Muscat told the contingent that Malta was proud of the team’s results in a sport which is usually association with men. While encouraging them to give their best, he promised the government will continue to follow their achievements and is committed to supporting the team develop its talents.

The Prime Minister was presented with a commemorative photo while his two daughters were presented with a national team shirt.

Also present for the meeting were Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties Helena Dalli and Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport Stefan Buontempo.
