Brian Spiteri was confirmed as coach of First Division side Lija Athletic. He shall be assisted by Lawrence Borg.

Joe Desira is the new Under 19 Youths coach.

Lija are currently working hard to boost its present squad with new signings ahead of the First Division 2013/2014 campaign.

Meanwhile the new administrative committee for the forthcoming season was elected following the club’s Annual General Meeting which was held on Sunday.

Jesmond Caruana was confirmed as President for the second year running, Samuel Cutajar was confirmed as Hon. Secretary for the fourth consecutive year while Antoine Sacco was elected for the first time as the club’s Hon. Treasurer. David Formosa and Emanuel Bezzina are the Club’s Vice-Presidents, while Jeremy Dalli was nominated as the Club’s Public Relations Officer. Charles J. Scerri is the club’s Council Member.

The other members elected in the committee are the following: Carmelo Bonnici (Assistant Secretary), Saviour Sammut (Assistant Treasurer), Lawrence Borg (Ground Manager), Sunny Scerri (Club Delegate), William Mintoff and John Bugeja.

As in recent years, the Lija Athletic committee is sectioned into different sub-committees to enhance productivity and its effectivity in the various activities and events organized by the Club.

It was also decided that Lija Athletic will once again compete in the Futsal Premier League after ending their commitments in the first season of participation in fifth place of the highest local Futsal division.
