Valletta FC wear Puttinu Cares logo on shirts

Valletta FCValletta FC will be wearing the shirts carrying the Puttinu Cares logo for the second leg of the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round against SP La Fiorita on Thursday.

Speaking during a press confence at Zmerc City on Wednesday, Valletta FC president Victor Sciriha said the decision to wear these shirts during the two qualifiers against La Fiorita was a sign of appreciation by the club towards the work done by this organisation. He explained that the shirts will be autographed and will eventually be on sale for €100 in order to raise funds for Puttinu Cares.

The Valletta president launched an appeal to supporters to support the organisation. Dr Victor Calvagna, on behalf of Puttinu Cares thanked Victor Sciirha and the club and said that such initiatives help the organisation finish the various projects.

Meanwhile Victor Sciriha announced that the number 7 shirt which used to be work b former captain Gilbert Agius will be retired as a sign of appreciation towards the player for the long services rendered to the club.

The souvenir programme which will be published for the second qualifying round match against FC Minsk will include an autographed poster of Gilbert Agius. This will be sold for €5 with all proceeds going towards Puttinu Cares.

The Valletta president said that the club is close to agreeing new three-year deals with Roderick Briffa, Ian Zammit and Edmond Agius. He also announced that the club will soon have a new sponsorship by a firm from Georgia.

Finally Sciriha appealed for good behaviour by supporters in the UEFA Europa League matches since UEFA fines for any incidents could amount to up to €50,000.
