Lija / Iklin Nursery players on training camp in Czech Republic

lija-iklin-in-Nymburk2013Twenty players, born 1999/2000, from the Lija/Iklin Nursery attended a one-week training camp in Nymburk in the Czech Republic at a complex managed by the Czech FA which lies next to the Elbe river and features top class indoor and outdoor facilities for the various sports disciplines.

The group was under the supervision of Nursery Head Coach Ray Schembri and assistant coach Andrew Cremona together with nursery officials Joe Buttigieg and Joe Cremona.

Before leaving for the Czech Republic, the children were instructed on the importance of this training camp and what it would consist of considering that usually the only opportunities to travel abroad were international tournaments. The training camp consisted of two daily intensive training sessions, jogging in the woods and recovery sessions, usually in the pool, apart from meetings and video sessions. The children also had free time for sight-seeing.

The benefit from this pre-season training camp was clearly visible in a friendly match which the team played against a German team which was spending a few days at the same complex.
