Hibernians Futsal prepare for UEFA Futsal Cup commitments

Hibernians FCAfter winning the FXDD Futsal Premier League, Hibernians FC Futsal will be representing Malta in the UEFA Futsal Cup.

The Paolites will be playing in the Preliminary Round mini-tournament which will be played between August 28th and 31st in Finland. Hibs play against German side Hamburg Panthers on the 28th, FS Ilves Tampere of Finland on the 29th and against JB Futsal Gentofte of Denmark on the 31st.

After defeating Balzan 7-2 in the final, Hibernians started working in order to strengthen the squad. They lost Branko Nisevic who is now coach of the Hibernians FC and released another player. They signed four Malta international players and two international players from Georgia – Levan Kobeidze and David Bobokhidze. The three Bulgarian international players who were part of the Hibs squad last season – Boicho Marev, Georgi Gerasimov and Blogovist Marev – were retained.

In view of this tournament, Hibs appointed Georgia national team coach Avandil Sanitiani, who is also the coach of a top division club in Georgia, as their coach on a six-week contract.

The team has been training hard in order to be well-prepared for the tournament.
