Victoria Hotspurs and Kercem Ajax reached the second round of the U*BET FA Trophy after winning all-Gozitan clashes at the Gozo Stadium on Thursday.

The Hotspurs defeated Munxar Falcons 2-1. Warren Chircop put them ahead on the 20th minute. Mario Azzopardi levelled matters by converting a penalty on the 65th but seven minutes later, Saturday Nanapere gave the Hotspurs victory.

In another match, Kercem Ajax beat St. Laurence Spurs 6-2. Kercem took the lead on the 14th thanks to Karol Mifsud and John Camilleri scored twice on 35 and 39 minutes to put them 3-0 ahead. Two minutes in the second half, Andrew Mizzi increased the lead and Malcolm Vella scored the fifth goal five minutes later. Daniel Pace reduced the gap on 67 minute and after Malcolm Vella scored Kercem’s sixth goal on 74 minutes, Mario Cutajar scored a second goal for the Spurs four minutes later.

In the second round, Victoria Hotspurs will be facing the winner of the clash between Oratory Youths and Mtarfa while Kercem Ajax take on Luqa St. Andrew’s.
