Naxxar Lions forward Gilmar Ribeiro da Silva has won the BOV Player of the Month award for August 2013.

The Brazilian striker was an inspiration to his team mates in newly promoted Naxxar Lions’ first three matches. His top performance was Naxxar’s 2-1 victory over Qormi, where apart from netting Naxxar’s two goals, he was a constant thorn in Qormi defence’s side. His surging runs created endless problems to his direct markers.

Unfortunately for Naxxar, da Silva suffered an injury in their match against Sliema and will be sidelined for about two weeks. His services will definitely be missed by the Lions.

Tania Camilleri, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s Naxxar Branch presented the new BOV Player of the Month Trophy for August to Da Silva who chose Dar Familja Mqaddsa in Naxxar to benefit from the donation associated with this award.
