BOV Premier League resumes this weekend

bov-premier-league-2013-2014After a break due to the national team’s commitments in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the Under-21 side’s qualifiers away from home, the BOV Premier League will be back this weekend with two matches on Saturday and four on Sunday.

At the National Stadium on Saturday, Naxxar Lions take on Tarxien Rainbows while Balzan face Sliema Wanderers.

Naxxar L. vs Tarxien R. – National Stadium, kick-off 17:00
In the first match, both Naxxar Lions and Tarxien Rainbows will be eager to bounce back from defeats they sustained in their last outing. Naxxar lost 0-2 to Sliema after collecting four points in the first two matches while Tarxien suffered a heavy 6-2 defeat to Qormi for the second defeat in three matches.

Thiago Lopes de Souza will be back for Naxxar after serving a one-match ban but Kurt Drago is suspended. Tarxien, on the other hand, hope to recover Miguel Ciantar after missing the last game.

Sliema W. vs Balzan – National Stadium, kick-off 19:00
In the second game, Sliema Wanderers seek the third win in four matches to move temporarily on top the BOV Premier League table. The Blues defeated Qormi and Naxxar, dropping their only points in a draw with Birkirkara. Balzan, on the other hand, lost 1-2 to Birkirkara after a draw with Vittoriosa and a win over Rabat.

Both sides are expected to be in full strength.
