BOV Division 2: Second defeat for Dingli Swallows

bov-second-division-2013-2014Dingli Swallows suffered a second defeat in the BOV Second Division as they lost 0-2 to Marsa at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday. Following a goalless first half, Dylan Agius put Marsa ahead on the hour and Clayton Caruana doubled the score one minute from time.

In another match at the same venue, Zabbar St. Patrick and Gharghur shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, goals by Thomas Caruana for Zabbar on the 34th and Dale Camilleri six minutes in the second half for Gharghur.

Mellieha registered their first win, beating Senglea Athletic 2-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium with goals by Robert Perkins on the 27th and Reuben Vella on the 51st.

In another match, Fgura United and Pembroke Athleta earned a point each in a 1-1 draw. Joseph Okonkwo put Fgura ahead on 27 minutes and Mauro Grioli levelled matters on the 67th.

At the Luxol Stadium, Kirkop United and Siggiewi registered identical 2-1 wins over Marsaskala and Mdina Knights respectively.

Durim Brata was the hero for Kirkop with a penalty on the 45th and another goal on the 90th after Toraino Singleton equalised on the 67th.

On the other hand, Mdina managed to take the lead with a goal by Ayrton Buhagiar on the 20th but goals by Christian Briffa on 39 minutes and Alessio Cassar on the 88th handed Siggiewi their first three points.

San Gwann lead the way with six points, followed by Gharghur, Pembroke, Zabbar and Fgura on 4, Mellieha, Mdina, Siggiewi, Marsa, Senglea and Kirkop 3, Dingli, Marsaskala and Mqabba 0.
