BOV Division 2: Four teams on top

gharghur-dingli130929Four teams lead the way in the BOV Second Division after San Gwann – the only team with maximum points from the first two matches were held in a draw by Mdina Knights.

Emilio Cornago San Pedro put Mdina ahead four minutes in the second half but Shawn Vella levelled matters on the 65th.

Zabbar St. Patrick registered a fine 5-2 win over Kirkop United. The Saints managed to build a comfortable five-goal lead thanks to Ayres Cerqueira Simao on the 1st, Thomas Caruana on the 24th and 27th, Shalon Diacono on the 42nd and once again Ayres Cerqueira Simao on the 55th. Kirkop scored twice thanks to Albert Busuttil on the 62nd and Shawn Micallef on the 63rd.

Gharghur defeated Dingli Swallows 2-1. Guillerme Soares Guedes de Freites put Gharghur ahead on 31 minutes and Carl Cutajar doubled the score on the 64th. Musa Sinani scored a consolation goal for Dingli on 76 minutes.

Pembroke Athleta defeated Senglea Athletic 2-1 thanks to goals by Adrian Galea on the 11th and Nicholas Schembri on the 78th. Trevor Thomas had equalised on the 36th.

A goal by Michael Abdilla on the 55th gave Mqabba their first win as they defeated Mellieha 1-0.

In another match, Marsa and Fgura United shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
