Third win for Nadur Youngsters

nadur-hotspurs130929pcNadur Youngsters maintain the hundred percent record on top the GFA Melita First Division as they beat Victoria Hotspurs 3-1 in one of the four matches in programme this weekend.

Jonathan Soares put the Youngsters ahead when he converted a penalty on the 2nd minute and David Fenech doubled the score on the 7th. Saturday Nanapere pulled one back on 44 minutes but Anthony Portelli secured the issue with a third goal on 63 minutes.

However another two Victoria teams moved second as they registered wins on Saturday.

Oratory Youths defeated Munxar Falcons 4-0 thanks to goals by James Tabone on the 32nd, Shaun Attard on the 48th, Oliver Farrugia on the 56th and Shaun Attard on the 83rd.

On the other hand, SK Victoria Wanderers beat Xaghra United 2-1. Ajibade Adeshina put the Wanderers ahead on the 4th and Fernando Giarrizzo doubled the score on teh 24th. Ivan Ruiz Perez scored a consolation goal on 74 minutes when he converted a penalty.

In another match, Kercem Ajax and Xewkija Tigers shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Jean Paul Mizzi put Kercem ahead on the 5th but two minutes later, Christian Bugeja levelled matters. An own goal put the Tigers 2-1 ahead on 22 minutes but another own goal restored equilibrium nine minutes in the second half.

Xewkija therefore stay a point ahead of Kercem who join Victoria Hotspurs on four points. Xaghra and Munxar lie at the bottom of the table without any points.

In the GFA Melita Second Division, three teams share the top spot on four points after Qala Saints and Gharb Rangers registered wins earlier this week.

Qala Saints defeated Sannat Lions 2-1. Christian Portelli and Michael Mumford put Qala two goals ahead with Josiah Buttigieg pulling one back for Sannat.

Gharb Rangers, on the other hand, beat St. Lawrence Spurs 2-1. The latter took the lead thanks to Franklin Grima but a brace by Jerry Anyanwu – the second goal scored on the 93rd minute – handed Gharb the three points.
