Jesmond Zerafa is new Balzan coach

balzan-fcBalzan have appointed Jesmond Zerafa as their new coach after parting ways with Riccardo Tumiatti.

Tumiatti, who was appointed as Technical Director in January, took over as coach of Balzan in April after the termination of former coach Ivan Zammit. He was confirmed as Balzan coach in summer.

Jesmond Zerafa started his coaching career with Tarxien Rainbows in 2001/02, joining Qormi in 2007. He led the club to promotion to the Premier League and coaching the club for another two years. Zerafa moved to his boyhood club Valletta in season 2010/11. With the Citizens, he won two successive championships but after his contract was not renewed, he returned with Qormi last October, signing a contract until the end of the season.

Balzan collected four points from the first two matches in a draw with Vittoriosa and a win over Rabat but then suffered four defeats, losing to Birkirkara, Sliema, Mosta and Tarxien.
