BOV Division 3: Great comeback hands Marsaxlokk first victory

sirens-ghaxaq131006Marsaxlokk collected their first three points in the BOV Third Division as they came back from two goals down to beat Swieqi United. The Southseasiders now lie on minus five points.

Fabian Debono put Swieqi ahead just before half-time and the same player doubled the score on the 53rd. Manuel Caruana pulled one back on 73 minutes and four minutes later, Marlon Grech equalised. Jerome Psaila notched the winner two minutes from time.

Sirens registered their fourth win as they beat Ghaxaq 2-0 thanks to Ricardo Severino Goncalves on 37 minutes and Lee Joe Schembri on the hour.

Luqa St. Andrew’s also maintained their hundred percent record thanks to a 1-0 win over St. Venera Lightnings, courtesy of a Colin Gatt goal on 58 minutes.

Santa Lucia claimed the three points thanks to a narrow win over Kalkara thanks to a goal by Brian Chetcuti on 52 minutes.

In another match, Attard beat Mgarr United 3-1 to move third. Nigel Spiteri put Attard ahead on 54 minutes and two minutes later, Leonard Alla doubled the score. Andre Hili scored a third goal on the 90th and Jonathan Muscat scored a consolation goal for Mgarr in stoppage time.

Sirens and Luqa lead the way with 12 points, followed by Attard on 10, Swieqi and Santa Lucia 9, St. Venera 7, Mtarfa 6, Qrendi and Ghaxaq 4, Ghaxaq, Mgarr and Xghajra 3, Kalkara 1, Ta’ Xbiex 0 and Marsaxlokk -5.
