BOV Third Division leaders Sirens dropped their first points of the season after being held in a 1-1 draw by Ta’ Xbiex. For the latter, this was the first point after five defeats in the first five matches.
Giovanni Galea put Sirens ahead on 34 minutes but a penalty by Andrew Xuereb on the 91st minute gave Ta’ Xbiex a point.
Santa Lucia registered a comfortable 5-0 win over Marsaxlokk. Christian Curmi put Santa Lucia ahead on 32 minutes. Sean Lee Lanzon doubled the score three minutes in the second half and four minutes later, Mohammed Senussi made it 3-0. Curmi and Senussi scored again on 56 minutes and 69 minutes respectively for Santa Lucia’s fourth and fifth goals.
Attard returned to winning ways as they beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 3-1. Colin Ciantar put Attard ahead on the 45th. Greg Marney equalised three minutes in the second half but a brace by Leonard Alla on 51 and 85 minutes handed Attard the three points.
Xghajra Tornados defeated Qrendi 4-1. Christian Magro put Xghajra ahead on the 2nd minute and although Stefi Cale levelled matters on the 20th, Xghajra regained the lead thanks to Ivo Ginev on the 59th before Darren Galea scored twice on 80 and 85 minutes to secure victory.
Sirens lead the way with 16 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 15, Attard 13, Luqa 12, Sta. Venera 10, Ghaxaq, Swieqi and Xghajra 9, Mtarfa 7, Mgarr 6, Qrendi 4, Kalkara 1, Ta’ Xbiex 1 and Marsaxlokk -4.
