Futsal: Hibs, Qormi shine again

futsal-hibs-vittoriosaChampions Hibernians registered their second win of the season in the FXDD Futsal Premier League after defeating Vittoriosa Stars 5-2. The Paolites came from behind and scored five goals that gave them the three vital points. A brace from Melvin Borg and another David Bobokhidze together with a goal by Xavier Saliba handed Hibernians the three points.

In another match played on Friday, Qormi had the better of San Gwann, defeating them 3-2. This was the second win for Qormi and the first defeat for San Gwann.

Balzan demolished Zurrieq in their first outing of the season to grab the first three points at stake in style. They dominated the entire match with great ball possession and fast attacks. Zurrieq found it hard to penetrate the Balzan defence and they could find the net only once.

Player-coach Gabriel Dobre scored three of the goals, the others being scored by Jovica Milijic, Marc Albert Areny, a brace by Glenn Bonello and Christian Micallef. Zurrieq scored a consolation goal thanks to Joshua Farrugia.

Melita and Zabbar St. Patrick also gained their first three points of the season after seeing off their respective opponents Swieqi United (4-1) and Luqa St. Andrew’s (5-3) respectively.

In the FXDD First Division, Msida St. Joseph grabbed the third win of the season after a 6-3 victory against Marsaskala. In two interesting encounters, Kalkara beat Fgura 5-4 while Valletta returned to winning ways after a 5-4 scoreline against Naxxar Lions.
