BOV Division 1: Hotspurs keep marching on

bov-first-division-2013-2014One week after defeating St. Andrews, Pietà Hotspurs maintained their unbeaten record in the BOV First Division with a 2-1 win over another challenger for promotion, Melita. A win which puts Pietà four points clear.

Matthew Borg put the Hotspurs ahead and Raphael Alain Kooh Sohna doubled the score. Jose Jairo Cueto Rodriguez reduced the gap for the Amateurs.

In another match, Gudja United defeated St. George’s 3-2.

Former St. George’s striker Anthony Ewurum put Gudja ahead but Jhonatan Bernardo Mariano levelled matters. Ewurum made it 2-1 and then Mauro Brincat converted a penalty to increase the lead before John Roland Emeka reduced the arrears for the Saints.

Pietà lead the way with 17 points, followed by Melita on 13, Lija 12, St. Andrews 11, Birzebbuga 10, Gzira, St. Georges and Zebbug 8, Zurrieq and Gudja 7, Zejtun 4, Msida 1 and Hamrun -3.
