Valletta target fifth cosecutive win

valletta-balzan130203Valletta will be all out to take the three points on Sunday as they take on Balzan in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The Citizens seek their fifth successive win to move back in second place after both leaders Hibernians and champions Birkirkara registered wins on Saturday.

In their last outing, Valletta defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-0.

Balzan, on the other hand, seek a positive result after losing six of the last eight matches. Last week, they lost narrowly to leaders Hibernians.

Michael Falzon and Justin Grioli are set to return for Balzan after serving a one-match ban but goalkeeper Dani Miguelez is still recovering from an injury. Firas Aboulezz should also make it to the squad. Valletta will be lacking Ian Azzopardi, Dyson Falzon and Hamza Barry.

Meanwhile in the first match, Mosta hope to keep the pace with the teams on top with a win over Tarxien Rainbows.

The Blues defeated Sliema 3-2 last week and a win over the Rainbows would put them once again three points behind the Blues and four ahead of rivals Naxxar.

Tarxien, on the other hand, are joint-second from bottom with Qormi and Balzan on eight points. They are coming from two defeats to Birkirkara and Valletta in their last two outings.

Goalkeeper Nicky Vella is suspended while Carlo Mamo is ruled out injured. Mosta could not count on the injured Ryan Grech and Diego Pereira.
