Fifth win for Hibernians in BOV Women's League

bov-women-first-division-2013-2014BOV Women’s First Division leaders Hibernians kept marching on thanks to a 3-0 win over Mgarr United at the Pembroke Ground on Tuesday.

Following a goalless first-half, Hibs took the lead on the 48th minute thanks to Dorianne Theuma with a shot from the edge of the area. Martina Borg doubled the score on the 71st after goalkeeper Marie Claire Tabone failed to hold an AnneMarie Muscat effort. Ylenia Carabott sealed the issue with a third goal five minutes from time.

Champions Birkirkara kept the pace with the Paolites thanks to a 4-0 win over Gozo at the Pembroke Ground.

Raina Giusti put the Stripes ahead on 16 minutes with a fine shot from outside the area which surprised the Gozitan goalkeeper. Stephania Farrugia doubled the score on 77 minutes and three minutes later, Giusti scored again to increase the lead. Just before the final whistle, Farrugia made it 4-0 for the champions.

Raiders (Luxol) collected their first three points in a 3-0 win over neighbours Pembroke Athleta at the Luxol Stadium.

The two teams shared the exchanges during the first thirty minutes. Raiders took the lead on 32 minutes when they were awarded a penalty and from the penalty spot, Amanda Atkins converted. Against the run of play, Luxol doubled the score when Rodianne Zerafa took advantage of a defensive blunder and beat goalkeeper Nicole Mifsud. In the dying minutes, Raiders sealed the issue with a third goal when off a good run on the left, Eleonora Agliano served Rodianne Zerafa who placed the ball at the back of the net.

bov-women-second-division-2013-2014In the BOV Women’s Second Division, leaders Tarxien Rainbows extended their hundred percent record with a 3-2 win over Fgura United at the Fgura Ground.

Fgura managed to take the lead on the 12th minute thanks to a goal by Ingrid Vassallo but the Rainbows hit back, equalising on the 35th thanks to Kristine Camilleri. Five minutes later, Francesca Cauchi put Tarxien ahead with a shot from outside the area. Just before half-time, Fgura could have restored equilibrium but Eliana Gialanze missed a penalty.

Karen Schembri equalised on the 67th minute but Francesca Cauchi scored the Rainbows’ third goal eight minutes from time.
