Maltese officials to control matches in San Marino

referees-off-for-san-marino2013The Malta FA Refereeing Department announces another referees’ exchange which sees Elite Referees Paul Caruana and Sandro Spiteri, assisted by FIFA Assistant Referee Duncan Sultana and Elite Assistant Referee Jurgen Spiteri, officiating two top division matches in San Marino this coming weekend.

Paul Caruana will control Cosmos vs Tre Fiori on Saturday and while Sandro Spiteri will be in charge of Juvenes/Dogana vs Murata on Sunday.

Duncan Sultana and Jurgen Spiteri shall assist both referees while Paul Caruana and Sandro Spiteri shall alternate their roles as referee/fourth official.

Malta FA Referee Observer Tom A. Restall shall be accompanying the team of four match officials on this exchange visit in San Marino where on Saturday, he shall be the Referee Observer of the match Faetano vs Folgore/Falciano.

Match officials from San Marino have been appointed to officiate the BOV Premier League matches, Naxxar Lions vs Qormi and Vittoriosa Stars vs Mosta on Saturday and Sunday respectively, while Marcello Busignani from the San Marino Football Federation has been appointed as the referee observer of the Sliema Wanderers vs Birkirkara match on Saturday.

The referees’ exchange with San Marino builds on similar exchanges already held in the previous two seasons as part of the ongoing reform in the refereeing sector.
