Futsal: Luxol maintain hundred percent record

futsal-asddaenwoLuxol showed more great form in the FXDD Premier Division after seeing off Pembroke Athleta with a 7-3 scoreline to claim the top spot together with Hibernians.

Now unbeaten in seven league games, Luxol scored their first goal after 30 seconds to pave the way for their success. On the other hand, Pembroke, fifth in the table, offered a mighty performance with keeper Bernard Camilleri pulling off some wonderful saves to keep his team in the match and operating on swift counter-attacks with Wayne Muscat and Floren Manea being the most dangerous.

Luxol’s goals were scored by Eslam Khalifa, who scored a hat-trick, a brace by William Barbosa and two goals by Ibrahim Tarek and Dean Gera. A brace by Wayne Muscat and a goal by Kenneth Ekezie reduced the arrears for Pembroke. During this match, youngster Dario Arran Zampa, seventeen years of age, made his official debut with Luxol.

Balzan obtained their sixth consecutive win after beating Hamrun Spartans 14-3 to gain the second place in the table.

Despite the massive score, Hamrun tried to organize themselves to control Balzan’s continuous attacks. But after a sequence of goals, they found it difficult to react. Balzan’s goals were scored by Emil Raducu (4), Gabriel Dobre (3), Marc Areny Albert (2), Glenn Bonello (2), Mark Tanti (2) and a goal from Jovica Milijic.

Zabbar St. Patrick managed to win 8-3 against Zurrieq to claim the sixth position in the table with 9 points while Vittoriosa Stars had the better of Swieqi United 9-3 to register the second victory of the season and climb up to the eleventh place on the six point mark.

In the FXDD First Division, Kalkara managed to win their fourth match of the season after beating Mqabba 2-1. Vaughan Barnes and Matthew Buttigieg scored the all important goals that put them fifth in the table.

Msida St. Joseph joined Kalkara in fifth place after seeing off Fgura 5-4. It was a balanced match that could have gone in either ways. Chris Cutajar, Aaron Calafato and Julian Grima were among the scorers for Msida.

In another match, Sirens obtained the second success of the season thanks to a 5-4 win against Valletta. It was a balanced match with clear goal opportunities for both teams but finally it was the St Paul’s Bay outfit that notched the winner.
