English Academy coaches guest lecturers at Pembroke Athleta Nursery seminar

pembroke-annual-seminar-dec2013Two UEFA qualified English coaches Harry Watling and James J. Mullane from top English academies were guest lecturers at the Pembroke Athleta Football Nursery’s annual coaches’ seminar.

Watling and Mullane gave details of the Academy which they run themselves called APD (Advance Player Development) which prepares children at the stage between Grassroots and Academy level. They also conducted two instructional meetings for coaches and a training session with the participation of the Nursery’s own Academy Groups.

The foreign visitors were impressed by the Club’s modern facilities and organisation. They also found time to watch a match of the Seniors’ squad who at present lead the BOV Second Division, apart from visiting places of interest.

YFA Chairman Fr Hilary Tagliaferro explained the introduction of the Children’s Passport by the YFA and Nutritionist Ms Claire Spiteri Staines emphasized the importance of a proper diet for all children with special emphasis on those who practice Sports regularly.

Special guests were MFA Senior Vice-President Ludovico Micallef and Women’s National Team coach Pierre Brincat.

A reception for the participants, lecturers and their families was held at the Pembroke Athleta FC new ‘Melting Pot’ Restaurant ‘at the Football Ground.
