St. Andrews International Tournament finals to be played on Monday

st-andrewsSt Andrew’s and Birkirkara will be contesting the 2000 Category Final of the 4th Edition of the St Andrew’s International Football Tournament on Monday at 15:00 after winning their semi-finals against Hamrun Spartans and Pieta Hotspurs respectively.

In a well-balanced match, Hamrun Spartans opened the score 10 minutes before the final whistle, but St Andrew’s kept heads up and equalized just 3 minutes before full time to force the penalty shoot-out. This proved to be very exciting for these young 13 year olds where Hamrun Spartans missed 2 with St Andrews missing only one to put them through to the Final.

It was an easy passage for the strong Birkirkara side against Pieta Hotspurs where they won 5-1 to put their name down as the second finalists for Monday’s final.

In the 1998 Category, Valletta, Paola Hibs and Pieta Hotspurs finished joint leaders with 11 points, but Valletta and Paola Hibs will contest for the final of this Category as they had the best goal difference.

Between the two semifinals of the 2000 Category, sports goods were presented by St Andrew’s to Mr Andrew Attard, member of Living Waters in the presence of YFA General Secretary.

The 1998 category final will be played on Monday at 10:00.
