Nadur Youngsters regain top spot

Gozo-Football-AssociationNadur Youngsters regained the top spot in the Melita First Division in Gozo thanks to a 3-1 win over Munxar Falcons in one of the two matches in programme on Sunday.

Munxar had a player sent off seven minutes from the end of the first half and from the penalty spot, Anthony Portelli put Nadur ahead. Portelli doubled the score four minutes in the second half. Joseph Grima pulled one back by converting a penalty on the 70th and although Nadur had Christian Debono sent off on 78 minutes, David Fenech made it 3-1 three minutes later.

In another match, Xaghra United suffered the eleventh defeat of the season as they lost 0-2 to Victoria Hotspurs. Saturday Nanapere scored the goals on 11 and 72 minutes.

In the Melita Second Division, St. Lawrence Spurs defeated Zebbug Rovers 4-1. Mambaye Boye notched a hat-trick with Franklin Grima adding another late in the game. An own goal provided a consolation goal for Zebbug.

In another match, Sannat Lions beat Gharb Rangers 3-2. Fernando de Andrade gave Sannat an early lead but Christopher Gafa was quick to level matters. Luke Attard restored the lead for the Lions and Fernando de Andrade, after missing a penalty early in the second half, converted another four minutes from time. Sam Harland scored a second goal for the Rangers in stoppage time.
