SKVW, Hotspurs share spoils in derby

Gozo-Football-AssociationSK Victoria Wanderers were held in a 1-1 draw by Victoria Hotspurs in the derby in one of the two matches from the Melita First Division in Gozo.

Eric Chidi Nwankwo put the Wanderers ahead on 29 minutes but the Hotspurs levelled matters through Saturday Nanapere four minutes from the end of the first half.

Xewkija Tigers, on the other hand, found no difficulty in beating Oratory Youths 5-0 to move at the top of the table, two points ahead of Nadur and SK Victoria Wanderers although Nadur have a game in hand.

Rodney Buttigieg put Xewkija ahead on the 18th and Dene Shields doubled the score on 31 minutes. Seven minutes in the second half, Jason Portelli made it 3-0 and two minutes later, Rodney Buttigieg added another. Chris Camilleri sealed the issue with a fifth goal on 71 minutes.

In the Melita Second Division, Ghajnsielem beat Qala Saints 3-0 thanks to a brace by Joseph Attard early in the game and a stoppage-time goal by Andrew Attard while Gharb Rangers defeated Zebbug Rovers 5-1. Michael Uzor Matthias was the hero for Gharb with four goals with Christian Attard adding another, Sylvan Galea scored a consolation goal for Zebbug.
