Champions Birkirkara move three points clear at the top of the BOV Women’s First Division table as they defeated Hibernians 2-0 in a top-of-the-table clash at the Luxol Stadium on Tuesday. This was the first defeat for the Paolites this season after winning the Women’s Super Cup and the first eight matches of their BOV Women’s First Division campaign.

Hibernians could re-join the Stripes at the top should they beat third-placed Gozo next week.

Rachel Cuschieri scored the two goals for Johann Scicluna’s side.

In other matches, Mgarr United defeated Kirkop United 2-0 on Tuesday while Gozo beat Raiders (Luxol) 6-0 on Sunday.

Meanwhile in the BOV Women’s Second Division, leaders Tarxien Rainbows suffered a second consecutive defeat as they lost 0-2 to Fgura United. This means that Fgura move to just three points behind the Rainbows although they have a game in hand.
