Fifth consecutive win for Mosta

BOV-Premier-LeagueA goal by Bojan Kaljevic mid-way through the second half enabled Mosta to beat Tarxien Rainbows 1-0. This was the fifth consecutive win for the Blues, therefore extending coach Enrico Piccioni’s unbeaten record since taking over as Mosta coach to six matches.

Mosta will therefore start their Championship Pool commitments on nineteen points, three behind Sliema Wanderers. Tarxien, on the other hand, will start the Relegation Pool on the eight-point mark.

The Blues lacked Manolito Micallef and Dyson Falzon but welcomed back Gianmarco Piccioni. For the Rainbows, Daniel Mariano Bueno was making his return after leaving Malta at the end of last season while Lucas Goncalves da Silva made his debut after joining the club earlier this week.

Bojan Kaljevic was unlucky not to put Mosta ahead with a fine shot from the left on the 7th minute which hit the crossbar.

Tarxien replied with a Carlo Mamo freekick on the 16th minute from which Demba Toure’s header also hit the crossbar.

The Blues managed to take the lead on 64 minutes when off an assist by Ian Zammit, Bojan Kaljevic advanced into the area before hitting low past Vella.

Gianmarco Piccioni tested Nicky Vella with a fine freekick on 71 minutes with the Tarxien goalkeeper turning the ball into a corner.
