BOV Division 1: Brilliant comeback by St. Andrews

bov-first-division-2013-2014St. Andrews came back from behind to beat Lija Athletic 5-2 in one of the two BOV First Division matches in programme on Saturday. Kiril Aleksandrov and Marko Potezica put Lija two goals ahead before a hat-trick by substitute Trayo Grozev and goals by Kyrian Nwoko and Luke Busuttil gave St. Andrews the three points.

This was the third win in four matches for Danilo Doncic’s side. On the other hand, Lija missed the opportunity to keep the pace with the top two teams.

In another match, Pietà Hotspurs moved three points clear as they beat neighbours Hamrun Spartans 3-1.

Christian Grech and Jurgen Pisani put Pietà two goals ahead, Mariano Cornago San Pedro pulled one back but Ricardo Costa sealed the issue for the Hotspurs.

Pietà lead the way with 36 points, followed by Zebbug on 33, Lija 29, Melita 23, St. Andrews 22, St. George’s 20, Gudja and Birzebbuga 18, Gzira 17, Zurrieq 15, Zejtun 14, Msida 11 and Hamrun 7.
