u21-malta-sweden140305After suffering a series of heavy defeats, the Malta Under-21 side showed remarkable improvement but was unlucky to leave Ta’ Qali empty-handed in a 1-2 defeat to Sweden in a UEFA Under-21 Championship Group 7 qualifier on Wednesday.

Malta managed to take the lead thanks to a goal by Ryan Scicluna after just ten minutes. The visitors levelled matters through Alexander Milosevic on 29 minutes with John Guidetti notching the winner on the 70th.

The locals pushed hard for the equaliser, being unlucky to hit the posts twice through Jean Paul Farrugia.

Malta plays its final game from the group in September, hosting Turkey.
