Precious points at stake in Relegation Pool clashes

tarxien-floriana110827Floriana target a third consecutive win in the game against Tarxien Rainbows they aim at moving closer to safety in one of the two BOV Premier League Relegation Pool matches in programme on Sunday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

The two Championship Pool matches Valletta vs Mosta and Sliema Wanderers vs Birkirkara were postponed to Tuesday.

The Greens lead the way in the Relegation Pool with seventeen points, five ahead of the Rainbows. Floriana beat Qormi 3-2 and Vittoriosa 3-1 while Tarxien earned a point in a draw with Vittoriosa before beating Naxxar 2-1.

The Greens are expected to be in full strength but Steve Bonnici and Jorge Santos Silva are ruled out through suspension for Tarxien.

Tarxien beat Floriana 2-1 in the first round but the second round clash ended in a 3-1 win for the Greens.

Meanwhile in the second game, Naxxar Lions and Qormi will both be all out for the three points after disappointing in recent outings. Naxxar lost five of the last six matches while Qormi returned to winning ways as they beat Rabat Ajax 3-0 after going nine matches without a win.

Raimi Bakare is suspended for Naxxar while Qormi hope to have goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia and Owen Bugeja back in their starting line-up after missing the last two matches.

Naxxar won 2-1 in the first round but Qormi defeated them 3-1 in the second.
