Xewkija Tigers move five points clear

Gozo-Football-AssociationXewkija Tigers move five points clear in the Melita First Division in Gozo thanks to a 4-3 win over rivals Nadur Youngsters on Sunday.

Brandon Said put Nadur ahead on the 11th but Xewkija turned the score in their favour with goals by John Camilleri on the 27th, Ferdinando Apap on the 31st, Dene Shield on the 35th and John Camilleri on the 39th.

Brandon Said reduced the gap for Nadur on the 79th but then the Youngsters had two players sent off by referee Marco Borg – Charles Hili and Charles Mercieca. Adrian Pulis scored a third goal for Nadur on the 91st. Deep into stoppage time, Anthony Portelli was also sent off for Nadur.

In a game from the Relegation Pool, Kercem Ajax and Oratory Youths shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Antoine Camilleri put Oratory ahead just before half-time with Keith Bonello equalising five minutes in the second half.

Oratory are sure of playing in the First Division next season as in another Relegation Pool clash on Tuesday, they had defeated Munxar Falcons 1-0 thanks to a goal by Oliver Farrugia ten minutes from time.

In the Melita Second Division, Sannat Lions defeated Gharb Rangers 5-0 thanks to goals by Nicholas Micallef, an own goal, Fernando de Andrade, Shaun Mizzi and Fabian Xuereb.

In another match, Ghajnsielem beat Qala Saints 2-1. Charlon Tabone and Robert Grima put the Blacks two goals ahead before Chris Attard pulled one back for Qala.
