Valletta through to U*BET FA Trophy final

gzira-valletta140319pzcValletta were the first team to reach the final of the U*BET FA Trophy after defeating First Division side Gzira United 2-0.

As expected, the Citizens were a better side but the Maroons controlled their opponents well, hardly allowing them to shoot at goal.

Valletta managed to take the lead on the 23rd minute when Hamza Barry concluded a good run with a powerful shot which was partially saved by Kyle Gerada and off the rebound, Edmond Agius tapped the ball home from close range.

Nine minutes from time, Gzira were reduced to ten men after Moises Avila Perez was sent off by referee Chris Lautier for retaliating following a foul by Ryan Fenech.

The Citizens doubled the score on the 90th when Luke Montebello sent substitute Llywelyn Cremona through and the latter hit low past Gerada from just inside the area.
