Women's national team lose heavily in Switzerland

2015-Women-World-CupLeaders Switzerland maintained a perfect record in Group 3 of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup as they registered an 11-0 win over Malta at the Herti-Allmend Stadion in Zug.

The Swiss, who had defeated Serbia 9-0 at home and Iceland 2-0, Denmark 1-0 and Israel 5-0 in three matches away from home, proved too strong for Pierre Brincat’s girls, scoring no less than seven goals by the end of the first half.

Ramona Bachmann put the hosts ahead on the 4th minute, Lara Dickenmann doubled the score on 13 minutes and Martina Moser made it 3-0 four minutes later. Nicole Remund scored the fourth goal just past the half-hour while Caroline Abbé and Rahel Kiwic scored twice in the space of two minutes to increase the lead to six-nil. Four minutes in added time, Dickenmann scored the seventh goal.

Thirteen minutes in the second half, Fabienne Humm made it 8-0 and three minutes later, Martina Moser scored the ninth goal. Fabienne Humm made it 10-0 on the 85th and two minutes in added time, Lara Dickmann sealed the issue with the eleventh goal.

Next Thursday, Malta hosts Iceland at the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 14:00.
