Gozo: Xaghra United relegated to Division 2

Gozo-Football-AssociationXaghra United were relegated to the Second Division after Munxar Falcons registered a dramatic 3-2 win over Oratory Youths on Wednesday to secure a place in the Promotion/Relegation Play-Off.

Oliver Farrugia put Oratory ahead but a penalty by Joseph Grima made it 1-1 for Munxar. Francesco Cini restored the lead for the Youths nine minutes in the second half. Gabriel Sillato equalised on 69 minutes and Oliver Curmi notched the winner five minutes from time.

In another match from the Relegation Pool on Sunday, Oratory Youths held Kercem Ajax in a 1-1 draw. Oliver Farrugia put Oratory ahead on the 16th minute with Joseph Chetcuti equalising seven minutes in the second half.

In a match from the Championship Pool, SK Victoria Wanderers and Victoria Hotspurs shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the derby. Daniel Bogdanovic converted a penalty on the 17th minute but Dylan Bellotti levelled matters on 31 minutes.

In the Promotion/Relegation Play-Off, Munxar Falcons will be facing the runners-up of the Melita Second Division.

Sannat Lions jumped on top Division 2 thanks to a 2-1 win over Ghajnsielem on Saturday. Charlon Tabone put the Blacks ahead but a goal just before the end of the first half and another on the 94th minute by Fernando de Andrade gave the Lions the three points.

Sannat lead the way with 40 points, followed by St. Lawrence Spurs on 39 and Ghajnsielem on 36. However the Spurs have a game in hand.

In another match, Gharb Rangers beat Zebbug Rovers 3-1 thanks to goals by Michael Mathias Uzor, Josef Portelli and Christopher Gafa with Pedro Adame Calderon scoring a consolation goal for Zebbug.
