Eleven Premier League players suspended — Ten-match ban for Naxxar officials

20110417-114224.jpgNaxxar Lions president Dione Drago and team-manager Roderick Albani were both handed a ten-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following incidents after the BOV Premier League clash with Qormi last week. Drago tendered his resignation from president on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Naxxar Lions and Floriana both have three players ruled out of this weekend’s clash. Igor Coronado, Gary Muir and Brooke Farrugia were suspended for the Greens after collecting a fourth yellow card. For Naxxar, Julian Azzopardi was suspended for a fourth yellow card, Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro was banned after being sent off during the last game while David Alejandro Reano was banned as he lacked a valid medical certificate.

Lucas Goncalves da Silva of Tarxien was suspended for two matches. Bojan Kaljevic (Mosta), Manuel Caruana (Tarxien) and Roderick Briffa (Valletta) were handed a one-match ban due to a fourth yellow card while Dario Tabone (Valletta) was suspended as he lacked a valid medical certificate.

Lucas Silva will miss the two remaining matches against Rabat and Qormi, Manuel Caruana the Rabat game, Briffa and Tabone the clash with Balzan while Kaljevic is ruled out of the decisive clash with Sliema.

In Division 1, Ryan Sell (Lija) was banned for two matches while Thomas Paris (Zebbug) was suspended for one match.

Thomas Caruana (St. Patrick) was handed a two-match ban in Division 2 while Neil Farrugia (Dingli), Carl Cutajar (Gharghur) and Christian Briffa (Senglea) were banned for one match.

Jurgen Gauci (Attard), Nikola Slavtchev (Luqa) and Haruna Doda (Mtarfa) were suspended for one match while Attard assistant coach Joseph Galea was suspended for two matches.
