Malta Under-16 side wins UEFA Youth Development Tournament

malta-u16-in-liechtenstein2014The Malta Under-16 national team won a UEFA Under-16 Youth Development Tournament which was held in Liechtenstein after winning two of the three matches played, losing the other on penalties.

In their first outing, Malta and Liechtenstein shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw although the hosts won the penalty shoot-out 5-4. A brace by Matthew Guillaumier and a goal by Nicholas Pulis gave Malta a 3-2 win over Gibraltar in the second match. In the third and final match, Malta beat San Marino 3-0 thanks to goals by Kieran Xuereb on the 26th, Matthew Guillaumier on the 38th and a penalty by Connor Zammit one minute later.
