Women's national team hosts Israel in World Cup qualifier

women-malta-serbia140213Malta plays its sixth game in Group 3 of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers as the team led by Pierre Brincat hosts Israel at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday, kick-off at 14:00.

After qualifying from the Preliminary Round stage, Malta found the going tough, losing 2-0 to Israel away from home, 0-5 to Denmark, 0-3 to Serbia, 11-0 to group leaders Switzerland and 0-8 to Iceland.

The team is therefore eager to bounce back with a good performance.

Israel played four matches – defeating Malta 2-0 and and Serbia 3-1 and losing to 0-5 to Switzerland and 0-1 to Iceland.

Malta is set to start with the following players: Janice Xuereb, Rebecca D’ Agostino, Stefania Farrugia, Gabriella Zahra, Charlene Zammit, Shona Zammit, Rachel Cuschieri, Antoinette Sammut, Dorianne Theuma, Emma Xuereb and Ylenia Carabott.

The other players at the disposal of Brincat are: Sonia Farrugia, Alishia Sultana, Francesca Chircop, Brenda Borg, Amber Grech, Mandy Debono, Jade Flask.
