Balzan unveil Oliver Spiteri as their new coach

Premier League side Balzan unveiled Oliver Spiteri as their new coach. Spiteri, who was the coach of Vittoriosa Stars last season, replaces Jesmond Zerafa who had joined the club in October leading them to a place in the Championship Pool.

Oliver Spiteri started his coaching career with the youth team of Birkirkara and then led Qormi and Marsaxlokk before joining the Malta FA technical staff where he was appointed coach of the Malta Under-17 side. Spiteri joined Mosta FC in summer 2009, leading them to promotion to the Premier League at the end of 2010/11. After leaving the Blues, Spiteri joined Vittoriosa Stars in January 2012 when the club was playing in Division 1 and the following season, he led the team to promotion to the Premier League. Last season, the club was relegated after finishing second from bottom, losing a decisive game to Naxxar Lions.

Spiteri will be assisted by Jean Paul Desira who was also the assistant coach at Vittoriosa. Desira will also be in charge of the Youth team.

Meanwhile Balzan FC Academy have appointed Ludvic Bartolo as their new technical director. Bartolo has been serving as technical director and head coach of the Zabbar St. Patrick nursery.
