First Division side Lija Athletic F.C. announced that they have appointed Joe Brincat as the new coach for upcoming season.

Brincat had started his coaching career with San Gwann in Divisions 1 before joining Vittoriosa Stars, also in Division 1. After a short spell with Floriana in the Premier League, he joined Qormi as assistant coach.

In a statement, the club thanked heartily Mr Brian Spiteri for his valuable services given during his spell lasting two and a half years with Lija Athletic F.C. and welcomed Mr Brincat to the club and wishing him every success.

Meanwhile Lija Athletic will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Sunday 8th June, starting at 10.00hrs. at the club’s premises in Bakery Street, Lija.

Items on the Agenda include the approval of the Administrative and Financial Reports of outgoing Season 2013-2014, Address by the Chairman, Statute Amendments, Village Feast and the nomination of a new Administrative committee for Season 2014-2015.

Nominations should reach the Club Secretary by Thursday 5th June.

Paid up members are urged to attend and contribute to this important meeting, while others who have not regularised their membership are urged to do so during this meeting. The club will also be accepting new members.
