Group B of The Convenience Shop Malta Summer Cup 2014 kicked-off on Monday with a win on penalties for Zebbug Rangers and a fine win for Floriana.
In the first match, newly-promoted Zebbug Rangers took a two-goal lead against Mosta as Sergio Campano put them ahead after just five minutes and Mauricio Britto doubled the score with a penalty six minutes for half-time. Mosta made a good comeback, reducing the gap one minute from half-time through a Bojan Kaljevic penalty and the same player equalised eleven minutes from time.
Penalties had to determine the winner and the Rangers won 4-3.
Meanwhile in the second game, Floriana defeated First Division side Vittoriosa Stars 3-0.
Slovenian Vito Plut put the Greens ahead on 17 minutes. Luca Bruccioli doubled the score on 79 minute and four minutes from time, Matteo Piciollo sealed the issue with a third goal.
The tournament continues on Wednesday with two matches from Group A. Qormi take on Pietà Hotspurs at 18:30 with Balzan facing Naxxar Lions at 20:30.
