Pietà Hotspurs win Malta Summer Cup 2014

Pietà Hotspurs won The Convenience Shop Malta Summer Cup after beating Mosta 3-1 in the final at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.

Gabriel Silva put the Hotspurs ahead on 11 minutes and Rafael Xavier doubled the score on 27 minutes. Seventeen minutes in the second half, Gabriel Silva made it 3-0 for Pietà with Daniel Mariano Bueno scoring a consolation goal for Mosta on 73 minutes.

After the final, Noel Zammit from The Convenience Shop presented the runner-up trophy to Mosta and the winning trophy to Pietà

Meanwhile Zebbug Rangers claimed third place after defeating Balzan 2-1.

Matias Michardi gave Zebbug an early lead, putting them ahead after just four minutes. Oscar Guerrero levelled matters for Balzan eight minutes in the second half.

Zebbug were awarded a penalty on 71 minutes but Mauricio Osmar Rodrigues Britto missed from the penalty spot. However the Brazilian striker made up for this by notching the winner one minute from time.

Vittoriosa Stars won the Teamsport Fairplay Trophy while Bojan Kaljevic of Mosta won the Carlsberg Top Scorer Award.
