BOV Second Division kicks-off

The BOV Second Division League kicked-off on Friday with the first three matches where Dingli Swallows and Hamrun Spartans emerged as winners.

At the Centenary Stadium, Dingli Swallows came from behind to beat newly-promoted Xghajra Tornados 2-1. Glenn Saliba put Xghajra ahead on 33 minutes but substitute Dylan Camenzuli levelled matters on 73 minutes and Mark Vassallo notched the winner two minutes from time.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Hamrun Spartans kicked-off their commitments with a 4-2 win over San Gwann. The latter had a player sent off early in the game before Jake Grech put the Spartans ahead on 34 minutes but San Gwann equalised on the 42nd through Nikolai Muscat. Rodney Refalo made it 2-1 on 59 minutes but Shaun Vella converted a penalty to level matters seven minutes later. However a brace by captain Ryan Spiteri on the 85th and 92nd minute handed Hamrun victory. San Gwann had another player sent off.

In another match, Zejtun Corinthians held Zabbar St. Patrick on a goalless draw despite having two players sent off.
