Hibernians seek seventh successive win to extend lead

Hibernians will be aiming for a seventh successive win on Friday as they take on Naxxar Lions in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the National Stadium.

Following Birkirkara’s and Mosta’s defeats to Tarxien and Qormi respectively, the Paolites could extend the lead at the top of the BOV Premier League table with a win over Naxxar. Hibs claimed maximum points from the first six matches, having the best forward line with seventeen goals and the best rear-guard conceding just four goals.
On the other hand, Naxxar are still seeking their first win after claiming just three points in three draws. They are coming from a 1-1 draw with Floriana last week.

Coach Winston Muscat could not field his best formation due to the absence of the suspended Angus Buhagiar and the injured Pablo Doffo, David Fenech and Sidney da Silva.

Meanwhile in the first match, Floriana take on Balzan.

Balzan could move in second place should they beat Floriana as they now lie two points behind Birkirkara. After losing to Mosta two weeks ago, they bounced back with a 3-2 win over Tarxien last week.

The Greens, on the other hand, are eager to return to winning ways after being held in draws by Zebbug and Naxxar in their last two outings.
