Gozo lose to Ankara in UEFA Regions Cup

Turkish representatives Ankara made sure of winning Group 6 of the Intermediary Round of the UEFA Regions Cup after defeating hosts Gozo in another match at the Gozo Stadium on Friday. Even if Ankara lose their final match against Vasaa and either Gozo or South Region (Russia) win the other match, Ankara would still go through to the next stage thanks to the direct encounter.

Ankara, who had defeated South Region (Russia) on Wednesday, defeated Gozo 2-1. Muzaffer Ilhna put them ahead on the 9th and Nuri Erdem Kunduz doubled the score five minutes later. Claudio Antunes pulled the gap for Gozo on the 72nd.

In another match, a penalty by Sergei Obernibesov eight minutes from time gave South Region (Russia) a narrow win over Vaasa (Finland).

The third and final match for Gozo will be against South Region (Russia) on Sunday.
