St. Andrews registered an incredible 7-5 win over wooden-spoonists Birzebbuga St. Peter’s in one of the four BOV First Division matches in programme on Sunday.

Kyrian Nwoko put St. Andrews ahead on the 3rd minute but Edson Luiz Bonati equalised on the 34th, Brian Said made it 2-1 on the 45th but just before half-time, Bonati restored equilibrium. Trayo Grozev restored the lead for Luxol on 59 minutes with Jeremiah Ani equalising two minutes later. A goal by Kyrian Nwoko, a penalty by Trayo Grozev and a goal by Matteo Desira Buttigieg on 63, 72 and 75 minutes respectively put St. Andrews 6-3 ahead. Jeremiah Ani scored twice on the 78th and the 90th to reduce the gap for Birzebbuga but Emiliano Lattes scored a seventh goal for Luxol in added time.

Melita regained sole leadership after beating Gzira United 3-2.

Julian Galea on the 29th and Jean Pierre Attard on the 37th gave Melita a two goal lead, Ryan Dalli pulled one back for Gzira on 41 minutes but Melita extended the lead through Federico Mennini on the 58th although Yanis Tonna scored a second goal for Gzira three minutes later.

Gudja United maintained their unbeaten run as they beat Zurrieq 4-1.

Mauro Brincat put Gudja ahead just before half-time but four minutes in the second half, Joseph JoJo Ogunuppe levelled matters. However an own goal by the goalkeeper allowed Gudja to regain the lead, adding another two goals through Mauro Brincat on 71 minutes and Adrian Carabott one minute in added time.

Pembroke Athleta registered their second consecutive win, beating Lija Athletic 3-1.

Ariel Laudisi put Pembroke ahead on the 3rd minute. Ige Abdullahi Adeshina equalised on the 17th but Ayrton Azzopardi converted a penalty on the 22nd to make it 2-1. Matthew Thorne added a third goal late in the game.

Melita lead the way with 15 points, followed by Gudja on 14, Mqabba 12, Vittoriosa 11, St. Andrews and Gzira 10, Lija 9, Pembroke 8, Fgura, St. George’s, Zurrieq and Msida 6, Rabat 5 and Birzebbuga 1.
