Alfonso Greco appointed Zebbug Rangers coach

Italian coach Alfonso Greco has been appointed coach of Zebbug Rangers. He takes over from Jesmond Zammit who handed his resignation on Monday.

Greco moved to Malta in August 2012 when he was appointed coach of Sliema Wanderers. In his first season with the Blues, the Italian coach led the team to joint-third place in the BOV Premier League while last season, Sliema placed fifth but finished as losing finalists in the U*BET FA Trophy.

His contract with Sliema was terminated earlier this month by mutual consent.

A former coach of Dingli Swallows and Hamrun Spartans and team-manager of Valletta, Jesmond Zammit was appointed coach of Zebbug Rangers in summer 2012. He led the club to two consecutive promotions – from Division 2 to Division 1 as champions in his first season and from Division 1 to the Premier League as runners-up at the end of last season.

Zebbug are currently at the bottom of the table with three points from nine matches. Alfonso Greco will be making his debut in the derby against Qormi on Monday.
