Under-19 side beats Gibraltar in UEFA mini-tournament

The Malta Under-19 side finished its commitments in Group 6 of the UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifiers in third place thanks to a 3-1 win over Gibraltar in the final game at the Graun Park in Tramore, Ireland.

It was Aidan Jake Friggieri who put Malta ahead two minutes from the end of the first half but James Coombes restored equilibrium when he converted a penalty seven minutes in the second half. Captain Jurgen Degabriele restored the lead for Malta on the 59th and Matthew Guillaumier sealed the issue with a third goal four minutes from time.

Malta had suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to hosts Ireland in the first game but lost 1-7 to Switzerland in the second.
